AT wits end with these girls PLEASE HELP!

I continue to be blown away by the choices for every treatment. I have probably asked the same question 5 times here regarding each product. I don't know if I will ever get it straight, but at least I know the worming routine now: Wazine and then valbazen.

I had this problem recently and took a fecal sample to the vet for testing. It showed no worms nor coccidiosis.

After doing extensive research, I think I have figured out the cause-- too much raw spinach! My girls loved it, and ate a lot. Since I found out that spinach can deplete them of calcium, making it harder for them to lay eggs and can even cause them to get anemia, I stopped giving it to them, and ever since there have been no poopy bottoms.

Have you given them spinach? That could be the reason.

@JakRat - How are your birds by the way? Your question about them was how
this thread got started! Did YOUR question ever get answered?
@Dawg58 - You seem to know your worms so if I ever find myself raising
them, I am DEFINITELY checking back with you on the worming!
Please look back and see that I never advocated the use of DE for worming
but as a potentially proactive means for preventing them - I am okay with us
agreeing to disagree on that point.

Well two girls are in the house. The other 4 are outside as they seem to be fine. I looked at their droppings this morning in their quarantine crate and there was a HUGE one. So I cleaned it out and looked at it and now I am terrified that there are worms! but I need to look on here to see if there is a pic of worms in their mess...... sigh they are just birds as my fiance would say, but I loves em

But the worms arent that noticeable, so maybe it was just something that they ate. I think I will just keep an eye out on them. They are getting some yummy yogurt at the moment which is hilarious to watch them eat it... I will give them some crumbles later.

So this de worming stuff. I think I may try it. I looked again but I didnt see any worms in their stuff, but they are still "leaking" gross.... and it smells really bad... i mean their stuff always smells a bit bad, but this is really bad.... right now I am keeping them calm and giving them yogurt with their crumbles... one layed an egg this morning, so I guess that is good. Should I deworm the other girls too just to make sure?

The terrible smell is cecal poop. It is normal and is excreted about every 8 or 9 droppings.
You may never see worms in their poop. If you do, it means there was no more room for them in their digestive tract and there is only one way to go...out...excreted in poop. Why would a worm give up its nice warm spot inside your chicken stealing nutrients? It has made its home there and wont let go! That is what you call a worm infestation when you see worms in poop. The worms left inside are also laying thousands of eggs to be excreted onto the soil to be picked up by your chickens again and be reinfected.

Jakrat,
Read Dawgs post, it is number 7. I would order the Valbazen and use that. You can get wazine from your local feed store and use that in the water first and then follow that with the valbazen. That way if the birds are super loaded with worms the wazine will kill some and then you can use the valbazen to kill the rest. Too many dead worms in the birds intestines can actually make them sick. it doesn't hurt to use the weaker stuff first and then the big guns. Does that help? While you have hold of the bird for the wormer you can give a quick dusting with poultry dust/sevin to kill mites and lice. Repeat that in 7-10 days to get the eggs that hatch after that. And there you go, you have treated for the common pests that harm your birds!! Depending on your climate warmer will need more worming possibly even every 3 months. We are going to go with every 6 months for now since we do get some very good freezes in the winter. I hope this helps!
