Atheist/non-religious thread

I just noticed this thread pop-up and would like to contribute, but I am sorry I don’t feel like reading 115 pages of previous posts. Having friendly discussions about atheism does interest me. I feel like I’ve only recently “come out of the closet” as an atheist in the last few years. I would be willing to discuss my conversion if that is of interest to people. Ultimately at this point, I believe that every specific religious or supernatural belief can objectively disproven through critical analysis, therefore the only conclusion is they are all wrong. Most people who are religious would agree with this for every religion but their own. I just take it one step further. I am not an anti-theist, nor do I “believe” that there is no god, I just don’t believe in any god(s) that have been presented to me.

I’m in a similar boat, I don’t believe there is no god, but more or less I just don’t care if there is a god or not.

Well I'm kinda busy rn but I can type it all out in a little bit.
Edit: just to clarify, I have no "absolute" evidence but have enough evidence to base my beliefs off of.

I guess that is why I wouldn't say that I don't care. I mean if there was a vengeful, petty, insecure, and jealous god out there, I would be pretty concerned. Fortunately, it is likely these stories likely just come from an outdated document created by people to control people.

Yes, the old testament is harsh, especially on mere women. I actually like the new testament and find it full of good advise. Never thought of it portraying god as a self centered prankster but can totally see what you are saying now that you have said it lol.
I glean that it is a guideline to a bunch of brutes and a-holes on how to be better. What gets me.... is 2000 years later we have not taken the best and evolved. Seems like a few would like to be brutes because that is what they want to conveniently glean from the historical document. And then they get upset because we have not evolved to their standard???
