CORRECTION! I was mistaken about the timing of that Babylonian prophect concerning Cyrus. My DH very much IS a Bible student, far more than I am, so I asked him when he got home. The prophecy was given about 150 years before Cyrus was born, not 500. My sincere apologies. The prophecy is in Isaiah 45:1-3 where God named Cyrus before he was born. The prophecy states that:

Isaiah 45:1 KJV
"Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;"

Cyrus diverted the waters of the river that ran through the city, and the "two-leaved gate" through which the river ran had accidentally been left open. Once the water level dropped, Cyrus's army simply marched right in.
