atpale pekin beak?

have a 6 1/2 yr. old + male pekin duck that has alternately had a pale/bright orange beak. currently pale for last year or so. it also went thru period of having a break in in(not severe-he ate,etc fine)he is fed 16 % with the female I have(she currently has a swollen warm joint and have been floating her but?) his trouble started before I erroniously gave them calcium for her egg laying(I now do NOT give them calcium because she has joint issue, I screwed up) so I don't know why he could be pale. any thoughts? he acts great otherwise.

The extra calcium in theory should have passed through his/her system and not been absorbed. However, you are dealing with an old duck and age takes its toll on us all. Maybe this is the equivalent of grey hair.

My pekin drake is 1 year and 2 months old, his was bright then went pale also..dunno why though.. hope we find out
