Attaching hard wire cloth in front of windows in coop

I used automotive washers to attach my cattle panels to my 2x4 structure. It is fast and very secure. I have a different opinion about staples. I exclusively used staples for attaching my hardware cloth to my coop window openings and it is very secure. I used a pneumatic stapler with 1 inch deep staples every 4 inches. Half inch long staples every foot will most certainly be insufficient. It all depends on the type, size and frequency of the application.

Another name for the automotive washers is fender washers. I work at a hardware store, and that is what we call them.

Short of using the fender washers and wood screws or laths, fencing staples will work, too. Advantage to the washer/screw set up is that they can be removed easily. Once the fencing staples are in, they're in for good. Would have to dig them out, or cut the hardware cloth around them.

I also used fender washers but used hex head screws, easier to drive for me.
