Hi guys...help/advice please.

24 hours in now from discovery....new flock owner.

6 month old Brahma...found after free ranging our flock.

Suspect our small dog, a cat, or hawk... Don't know really.

Hen has torn left lower waddle. The bleeding was substantial but under control. The waddle was torn down word and is hanging. The laceration was pretty deep and about 1 inch long. Upon discovery rinsed with a water and alcohol mixture, heavily diluted, and then applied triple antibiotic ointment. For the rest of the day the chicken was left to free range while I researched and continued my work for the day. Separated from the flock of course. Last night built in isolation room in the garage as it was predator-proof and finally found hydrogen peroxide as was recommended on multiple sites online.

Sprayed hydrogen peroxide which the chicken of course absolutely hated. Around the same time it seems the chicken started going into shock. Again bleeding is under control and no longer an issue. I suspect shock as lots of panting started acting disoriented, is having trouble walking, and was panting quite a bit.

Flash forward this morning, chicken still unsteady, did taken some water, but it's really not showing any sort of signs of activity. As best as I can tell, chicken seems disorientated, but alert.

Advice from here???....thanks all. 😁👍

I’m sure someone with more knowledge than some of us will see this and reply. Just remember it’s Saturday and everyone is busy things other than scrolling through this forum on a Saturday. I say that as I sit here on the toilet. (NOT making dookie) but waiting for the shower water to warm up enough for me to get in! Lol! Anyway, good luck with your situation and hang in there. I’m sure someone with some good info will reply sooner or later. :)

Eep! Don’t use peroxide anymore on fresh, open wounds. It has its place for gross old necrotic or extremely dirty wounds, or maggot infested wounds. but ouch! :)
Keep it clean and dry, with warm water and a little dilute iodine or chlorhexidine if needed. apply the antibiotic ointment 1-2 times daily, and watch for fly strike and picking from her friends. If you’ve got a quiet, safe area to pop her in until she’s calmed back down that’s probably best. If she remains disoriented I would be worried about further injury, such as a head injury.
