I eached into the brooder to get the 6 week olds out to clean and one of the little roos attacked me. He ran over grabbed the skin between my thumb and forefinger with his beak and bit the tar out of me. Mean little runt. Is there a way to break this little guy before he gets big enough to do damage? He is a really nice looking little guy. But I don't want a mean rooster and I don't want to give him away if he is going to hurt someone.

Curious, what breed is the cockerel? And how often do you handle them and how much time you have spent with the flock?
No matter what breed though, he sounds like a particularly aggressive boy if he is attacking you at this age. People on this forum have mentioned different methods such as grabbing the offender and carrying him around for 15 minutes to show him that you are in control.

He's a Dominique. I reach in the brooder and catch a few a day and pet them. He is usually right up there to get some attention - he's easy to tell apart because of his comb. He and a few others will peck at me but last night he was a wild chicken. I'll catch him later and carry him around while I do some chores. One of us has to be boss and it will be me.

I was just so shocked at this little feathery thing being so aggressive.
