attacked last night- lost wing

Yes! We did plug the hole. It was for a pull out tray which I had taken out to get better air movement into the coop. It's now back in. We think we'll staple on hardware cloth soon so we can keep the tray removed. At least until fall.

Now she & I are laying on the couch resting from our crazy day

Awe so sad! I will pray for your little sweetie and please update us in a couple days on how she's doing.......xoxoxoxo and your post scared the death out of me as we also have a 1 inch hole when we close up our chicken tractor.....so a weasel or something could easily dig under and up and reach its nasty little hand through the hole..

......we're going to close it up this week. Thank you for your post.

Thank you all for your support.

We got Mary home about 6pm on Thursday. I've been able to give her pain meds (torb) & antibiotics (amoxi) just fine. We've fretted about her eating as she had only been eating with encouragement BUT SHE ATE OVERNIGHT!!!!

Yippee!! We are so happy!

Update on Mary: It was touch and go for the first few days. She was eating off and on. Now she is doing great! Just finished her antibiotics yesterday.

She's even growing back some feathers!

She's a trooper. We've kept her in a wire dog crate during the day to be around the flock up until this weekend when she is out with them completely during the day now. The others are pretty good about leaving her wounds alone now. She's still isolated at night since it can get a bit pushy figuring out who gets to roost highest in the coop.

And stitches come out on Wednesday.

Again, we appreciate all your kind thoughts.

I had a brown Leghorn hen with a similar injury last year from a dog attack...amputated wing, savaged back and all...she recovered very nicely...they really are plucky birds...hoping for the best for your girl...

yay!!!! i'm so glad she's better! she won't win a chicken show, but she'll have the best personality after all the fondling i'm sure she has recieved
