Attention Muscovy lovers

T
Solo......great name for it.  Sorry about the other three.  Now you have another problem......a lonely duckling.  What to do, what to do?  Solo is an only child.  Maybe TSC or someone close will have a newly hatched duck (about any duck specie) to grow up with Solo.  The store bought duck you can always sell or give away later.  Just a thought.
The ones I have outside are almost 7wks old and huge and we are working on their social skills (breeder didn't) it will be a while before they can be together. I do have another batch going into lockdown on the 18th so I hope I have better luck with them (they weren't shipped). Keep us updated on your hatch!

Dianne88, I have a thread in the Duck section called Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs and I have been posting daily updates. I am on day 25.

I am so sorry to have missed all of this, and very sorry you lost all but the one duckling,

but so thankful for the one. It will be one spoiled baby, give it a stuffed animal and a bird safe mirror so it can see it's a duck. and it looks so precious. Look forward to seeing it all fluffed up.

Here's Solo with his teddy, thanks for the idea.

Chocolate and silver, the ones that didn't make it had black on them. Well, this morning has new issues for me, Solo has splayed legs! I fixed this once before on a silkie, I've cut up a band aid and secured his legs closer together. I will update.

Well darn........can't win for losing, huh?
I have used string and loosely tied a knot on one leg and then the other leaving about an inch or so spacing and then made sure the hatchling was on a non-slicky (new word, lol) surface and leave it that way for a few days while keeping an eye on it. Did this on a turkey hatchling a couple of months ago and turkey ended up just fine.

Solo is gorgeous really excited to see how this one turns out in color. sounds like you have the splayed legs under control, be sure to give it an old clean towel underneath for traction.
