ATTENTION NEWBIES TO INCUBATING

Ok, here is the updated weight loss chart. They are on the high end of percentage lost just over 18% right now, but the air cells are on the small side. I pulled all water out of the incubator and the humidity is around 38% today.

I can't wait to see what happens. I have been doing the dry incubation method this spring and a little disappointed. So I have two incubators I just set today. I am going to do one the dry method and you have inspired me to try weighing them and adding water and see what happens. Thanks for keeping us posted.

Here is the final weight chart. The end results were not as drastically high as I thought they would be. Still a little on the high side though. The air cells at lock-down looked pretty good. None were what I would call overly large.

Would you mind running one more column before you finish? I think you are going from last time to current on the weight loss. Could you please put a column that shows the total percent loss for each individual egg? That may be really informative when you put in the final disposition of the egg. See what kind of correlation there is.

I trust you are planning on doing an eggtopsy on any that don't hatch.

Sure, I will run that column. Yes, I will be doing an eggtopsy on every unhatched egg. I have even saved the ones I pulled that looked clear at candling. I will be opening them to see if there are any cells at all I couldn't see. Hang on, I will go revise the chart.
