Auction doelings/female goats [what breed/s you think they are?]

They are boers not nubians. Their ears go out too far for nubies, and they have the typical boer color markings. Many people mix boer with nubies, so it is possible, but those are mainly boer. That is why their bellies are going to look big. Boers are meat goats, so they are round just like pygmys or any meat breed.

someone wondered why so many people are mixing boer with nubians---
It is because boer have more babies and are year round breeders. Nubians give the highest milk fat content, but only breed seasonally which is a real detriment.
I am not a boer fan, so I would never use a boer, but mixing any meat goat with a milk goat helps to create a better breeder. The only bad thing about milk goats is that they are seasonal breeders.

um ... no ... thats not a healthy belly, nor is it a normal boer belly, nor is it a pregnant belly

thats a poddy belly, and I posted about it on tgs the other forum.

first two are boerxspanish or boerxdairy, third is nubyxboer

I'd put them about 87.5% boer

The reason I went with a boer/nubian cross is because I could breed my nannies either way - go with a boer billy and I have meat for the freezer, go with a nubian and I have something more for the diary department. And my half boer, half nubians all give almost 3/4 gallon of milk a day.

The black & white one is boer cross. She looks like my boer/nubian did - she has boer markings. As for her belly, she isn't healthy. Her belly is hanging and her bones are showing - not a "healthy" combination. You could take a sample into the vet and have it tested to find out what's in it, then you'll know the proper treatment. She is lucky to have found a new caring family!

The other girls look like nubian crosses, but could also be alpine crosses - I know they have that dorsal stripe. I personally don't care what breed of goat I wind up with, they're all cute! Your girls are definitely right there on the cute factor! Good luck with them!

Hi,
They are a cross and have Nubian in them I raise Nubians and Toggs. I have to let you know the reason people cross Nubians and Boers it to give them more milk and a better udder.
The one does look like it could have Alpine in it also.
As to why the one has a big belly it could have cocci so you need to treat that in all of them also.
Have fun with them we have 19 kids right now and trying to find homes for them..

Alot of people seem to be doing that now, I dont really know why. Hope its not just cause they look nice. Though I fell for it. LOL.

I hope its not babies, shes about 2 month old by her horns. I paid $20 each. That also tells why I had to get them. LOL

Why cross a Boer and a Nubian? That's easy! My absolute favorite cross for commercial production is a half Boer/half Nubian doe bred to a Boer buck. The doe has plenty of body capacity to carry and deliver big headed Boer kids and enough milk to feed 'em. Bred to a purebred Boer buck, the kids will be 3/4 and grow like weeds.

There are some Boer bloodlines out there that have had milk production bred out of them in favor of meat. Everything you feed them goes into muscle and/or fat so no matter how well fed they are, they have trouble making enough milk to adequately feed twins...twins that are genetically programmed to grow fast, I might add. Not a good combination, in my opinion. The way around this is to breed to a doe who CAN make enough milk.
