August 2022 Hatch-a-long

It probably looked like more than it was. She (for now) was dragging her belly around making it worse and spreading the blood. Seems to have stopped. I gave her a little chick saver and a private chamber in the brooder. She's very feisty. Hopefully she makes it through the night.

Catching up on the thread. How’s your little one doing?

Came home last night and all six Silkie mix eggs are progressing. DAY 19 today and I have two internal pips. They will probably all hatch sometime tomorrow I expect. This was an unplanned hatch and I normally don’t hatch mixed breeds, but I actually already have a buyer for any of these guys I don’t want to keep.
I was thinking to keep one or possibly two hoping for a satin paint. Possibilities for this particular crossing are black, blue, blue paint and black paint.
Usually know about six days of age which feather type they have.

They’re doing great! No other pips. All but one looked fine at lockdown so I must have done something wrong.

Busy couple of days. I'll try to get a glamour shot tomorrow.

All 6 duck eggs that made it to lockdown hatched successfully! My broody chicken accepted them and is very proud of her strange-looking-chicks

Egg #3 was first to hatch! She had been slow zipping for the past several hours... only got about halfway... then I left the house for 10 minutes and when I came back she was hatched!

Congratulations! Its already so cute!! I want ducks and will get some hopefully by next year.
