The eggs I sent are also mixed with the same breeds. A splash Bearded silkie roo and a golden laced EE hen. Wow, you can mix those together and see what happens. Allmy EE's have beards and the tufts or muffs what ever those feathers are called that stick out the side of their heads by their ears. Thats so cool.

chick # 2 is here!!!

That is awesome!
I've been getting 1 black, 2 blues and 1 buff; almost exactly in that order too LOL, I started writing them down as they hatched just to see.
and its a Buff Roo over white hens. So far no white chicks, and I've hatched almost 20 with another dozen to go. (we are going hatchin crazy here ~ mostly cause my husband sees no reason to eat small banty eggs, weirdo!

so they all go in the bator)

So glad to hear your havin a good hatch!
Here is the Serama Chick we hatched from the August swap - he is soooo tiny!

The last egg hatched and it was blue too! I think!! Everything hatched yesterday and I'm not sure what's what! it could be a black. So, out of 6 eggs I had 5 to hatch!! Fantastic on Shipped eggs! Thanks!!

Last winter we had a few aracuna hens and a rumpless that where laying like crazy and my silver phoenix was the roo. We did the same thing. Everyweek we had chicks hatching and we had 1 bator. I was practically glued to it all winter. I didn't have an automatic turner but instead I had 3 we "manufactured" that wowrked as well. I would fill the one that I took eggs out of for lock down and lay the lock down eggs on the floor of the bator. I had to keep an eye on them when they hatched to keep them from getting injured on our turners. I would take them out and put them in the brooder waiting right next to the bator all warmed up and all. It was ike being in a hospital and being the nurse that was there during delivery time. We (well mostly me) would stay up all night till they where all done hatching. Then I gave them all away after they got a few weeks old. It was so much work to tend to all those chicks in the house cleaning brooders and feed dishes etc........ Bet I don't do it this year.

Well, not as many anyway.

I'm gonna do qail till we have lots in the freezer. DH made a grow pen that will be outside in the shed with heat lamps. The only chicks that wil be in here will be the few chickens that I hatch out. I'm hoping to get me a mixed pen of designers and just let them do their thing and see what I get.

I need a broody hen soooooooooooooo bad.
