f you got her as an older chick it may just take longer than starting with a day old chick. Have patience she'll come around

Thanks so do I just carry on doing what I am doing and should I pick her up even if she is scared cos once I have her she is fine it's just picking her up she does not like

I think you might win her over faster by not startling her every time she aproaches you for food. Try this: sit down and offer her food. Allow her to approach and retreat as much as she wants. When she feels comfortable next to you try slowly reaching for her chest not her back as this is threatening. When she will let you touch her YOU retreat before she gets uncomfortable. This way she learns that she doesn't need to run away and that she has to come to you to get petted. It works with horses anyway and they are both prey animals so it's worth a shot!

Ok it's been over 8 hours since the pip. Normally I wouldn't be worried that it's not zipping yet but being that it's at the wrong end I'm worried that it's not able to turn... Should I help or give it more time?

A friend of mine just sent me a message on face book that she just had a silkie chick hatch and one of its legs is wrong. She says its toes are curled but it has iys leg tucked so tight to its body that she can hardly move it. Any ideas?

I had a chick hatch a week ago like that. She has started hopping on one leg. That eg is getting very stable. I tried to fix it, tried everything I read but it hurt her too much to move it. She was fine as long as I didn't touch the leg. Now, most of her pain is gone, another week I think it will be completely gone. I don't think she will ever use that leg. But I think she will be fine using just the one. Here is a video of my one legged cutie.

How did u get her so tame to run after u cos jazzie is still terrified of me and everything else I take her food every time I go to see her but see just takes it and runs away I handle her regularly I give her food and when she takes it I grab her but she still runs away she is also getting viscous she is separated from the other hens but they can still see her there is a light Sussex who really does not like her so that's part of the reason why she separated

She didn't like me much at first, then one day, she became velcro. I have noticed, if you put them out with the bigger chickens for awhile, then you go back and 'save' them, they will love you forever. I didn't do this on purpose, I just noticed after a couple of times trying to add the younger ones.

I have a chair out there in the chicken run. Sometimes I sit out there with them. Honey will eventually sit next to me on the chair then climb into my lap. Now I have to be careful not to step on her because she is always at my feet. I have another buff orpington cross marans, that loves to be held. And a rhode island red that isstarting too. I never expected that.
