I found it, soon to be in the poor house. It's great. Already won (funny that it's called won when I have to pay) a super flashlight to use a s a candler.

Sadly had to cull my crossbeak today, so heartbreaking :'(

Going into lockdown tonight in the hatcher for batch 2:

1 Rhode Island White cross egg with movement in it
2 Blue Marans cross eggs with movement in them
6 Welsummer eggs with definite movement in them
and 3 Welsummer eggs Ihave my doubts about, but that are sucha darkly colored shell I can't assure there is no life in them - so taking a chance.

All of the Welsummer eggs were shipped to me from Tennessee - so the odds of them being successful are greatly reduced thanks to rough handling by the USPS. And I should have replacement chicks arriving next week I believe - please let us have a cool spell???

In the incubator 11 Barred Rock also shipped from Tennessee, but only on day 3. Leaving them alone for a while.

Wow, you are an incubating queen lol! I am taking a break after my current batch on day 4 are done.

Oh, I know earlier in this thread or maybe in the July thread we were talking about looking at how the pin feathers on the wings of 1 day old chicks came in, and that if the primes and seconds were even, then it was male, and if the primes and seconds were staggered/different, then it was a female (or vice versa).  Will just have to do a search, lol.

Here is the link you all are looking for.

It is for specific birds bred to show this characteristic. I did it on my chicks just for fun. It shows that all of mine that just hatched are girls. But they are probably not one of those specific breeds so I can just pretend until someone crows, LOL!

Well, it's day 10 for my babies. Candled tonight and I have 16 viable silkie eggs.
These are my Catdance eggs. I'm really happy with them at the moment. Especially since they came through the post office in July!

This is really good news for me...I have 18 Catdance eggs in the incubator on day 4. Hope I have as many viable ones as you do. She does a great job of packing them so there is a good chance.

Just considered that at points if you buy on ebay we may have bid against each other!

Anyway my 4 batches of 6 eggs will be dispatched today

What a bunch of cuties!

I forgot to turn my alarm off so I was up at 4 and checked the eggs. Had an external pip! By 7:30 there is a small hole and we cab see her beak and hear her chirping. So excited! :D
