August Hatch-A-Long!

guys I am in trouble, looked at the weather forecast for the next 10 days nothing but t-storms. which means risking power outages.I am prepared, but would rather be worry free.

So i check my silkie eggs today (day 6) and 6 look great. 3 are clear. Would you keep them until day 10 to be sure? Also, I don't have much experience candling but a few of them really look a day or two bigger than they should be. I got them from a local breeder. Just curious. I am doing a drier hatch and temps are 99-100. So happy I added the little fan as I was having temp spikes before that (before the eggs went it).

Glad to see everyone hatching in August! I have ants in my pants!
Call me cautious Kathy....................I am real slow to toss eggs.. I would wait for a bit.............I do mine at 11 and 18 days....
Good luck and don't worry if they do not look identical in size...................they will be fine................I do not know if you have hatched before.but will add
they do not always all hatch on day 21.even under a hen...........Good Luck

I will be setting 24 silkie eggs from Catdance later this week, along with a few jersey giant eggs from my girls. Can I join in?

I will keep them just in case. I haven't hatched in a long time so I am more excited than usual.
Storms here for the rest of the week too and we have some giant scary trees. Fingers crossed.

I took my battery back up from my computer and plugged my fan and heater in to it. When the power goes out the turner stops, but the heat and circulating air stay on for hours. I got to test it and it works wonderfully.

After my high temp issues today with my thermometer battery dyeing I went and bought one of those hygrometers with the lead that you can stick into the bator. I have another one inside too, but it takes forever to adjust to a change in temp/humidity and this one seems to be better. I was worried I fried my chicks, so tonight I took a random sampling of 3 eggs from each batch of eggs and candled them. EVERY ONE had a HEARTBEAT!! So happy that at least I didn't kill them all :D
