August Hatch-A-Long!

WE HAVE A HATCH ON THE SAME DAY AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! i'v got 4 Silkies for a friend and 8 mixes under my Partridge broody hope to see pics from your hatch cuz you'll seem pics from mine

i will defintly post pics my silkie is still laying eggs dose yoours do that has it ever happined to yours

My broody isn't a Silkie but from what I have experienced she has never layed while on eggs maybe your just lucky but I would watch her closely

Woohoo! Just candled all 41 hatching eggs and I only marked 5 as questionable. The others look to be developing well at this point, many with obvious eyes, heart beats, even silhouettes of the chick inside moving in reaction to the light of the candler. Exciting! I left the questionable eggs in for a few more days. It should be very obvious soon whether it is a slow starter or a non-starter I think. Tonight was day 10 for batch 1 and day 7 for batch 2. So far my first hatch is going well. 2 of the questionable ones had what looked like blood rings to me. And 2 others were so dark I just couldn't be sure what I saw - couldn't even mark air cells.

they're all dark it could be bacteria, I would put them where you can take them out quickly, maybe even put them in a container in case they explode

A couple people found eggs that were all dark, had to take them out by lockdown because they were sweating slimy stuff. Keep a close eye on those, & throw them out if you have a feeling you should.. Maybe someone with more experience will give you better advice

No I mean they are Welsummer eggs and they are such a dark chocolate brown you really can't see squat through them at all, LOL!

I have a couple marans & one marans x barred rock their eggs aren't that dark
Just a dark brown with darker speckles on it. Still pretty but I wanted the chocolate brown eggs for my egg basket. The neighbors love getting all the different colored eggs

was able to see veining but when I candled again at day 17 the veins were totally gone & it looked like a blob in there. No movement at all.
