August Hatch-A-Long!

Thanks, i haven't tossed it just yet. im going to check it again in a few days. i done a eggtopsy on my other eggs and 6 had nothing in them at all and the 7th had a few veins and smelt really bad. i was hatching these in time for my sons 3rd birthday an we were having a farm themed party were his friends could come and play with the chicks and r pet lizard. so he will be really sad if we dont get at least one chick. we do have a birthday plan B if it doesnt work out tho xx

FYI if you can smell it, then the bacteria inside that egg can leak into your incubator. And that bacteria can penetrate the other eggs and kill developing chicks.

The silkie is a bantam, the cochins come in bantam and large fowl size so no telling, is the egg that is moving a small one like the silkie egg?. Pekin is a duck and that egg would be large! My lockdown is tomorrow also. All my eggs are silkies, no movement here yet.

the cochins are the ones that are moving its a bit bigger then the silkie egg the silkie is moving now and again and i dont think i have seen the black orps moving and i saw the polish move a couple a times wil i have chicks soon hopefully

Very excited to see the hatching starting! I am candling mine n a little while as today is day 14. I have 6 that were growing well so I am hoping all is still well with them. Of the 9 local eggs, 3 were clear and 6 growing. The shipped eggs were a bust--most scrambled and none fertile.

tomorrow is day 18 so tonigth is my last time turning day 17 should i add up the humidity tonite or tomoz morning

Movement is pretty much right on schedule. I dry incubate and usually dont up humidity till I see either an internal pip or hear peeping. But day 18 is what everyone suggests on upping humidity. Have you been tracking air cells?

All 6 are growing. One looks to be on schedule at day 14 while the other 5 look much bigger--16 or 17. Is this common in the summer months? Not sure what to do as lockdown is suppoed to be on Sunday. Giess I will check for movement, etc before upping the humidity.

When candling you can see the air cell getting larger if the chick is developing properly and the humidity is correct.

This will also tell you when its time to up humidity.

o no my chicken eggs air sack dosnt look that large maybe one of them dose i just candeled them and i saw a wing or beak rigth next to the air sack in my cochin egg
