August Mystery Egg Swap . . . . . Sign Ups Open!!!!

You guys are making me feel jealous , mine aren't ready to hatch yet. But I had my first one hatch since vacation today, and the popcorn quail are going to be popping out soon! :-D

I am waiting on my quail eggs to hatch, should be any day now. This is my first time with quail so don't know what to expect. But think they are gonna be fun .

I had one guinea keet hatch out yesterday, hoping that the other two will too. There was movement in the two others when I candled them before lockdown. It looks so lonely by itself.

Quail don't sit around for a day or so after hatch like chickens. They are up and running right away. Get busy, they need their own brooder, you don't want to keep them with chickens. I used the really small hardware cloth for the bottom of mine since they are so small, and I made the brooder round so they wouldn't cram up in the corners.:-D

I've hatched out buttons and I mean as soon as they pop out of their egg they're rushing around the incubator trying to get out!

Mine also liked to go under the shavings!! I would go in my room to check on the bumbles and I would be like "OMG! There is only 2! There is supposed to be 5!!

" I would see something moving under the shavings and sure enough..there they are snuggled up under the shavings!!

At 2 weeks old we have moved up to planning an escape from the brooder. My singleton is now renamed Stewie...

so far from my 3 sets of August mystery eggs.. I have gotten 2 button quail, 4 pharoh quail and a black chick.. unfortunately -- it has wry neck...
