So did I read correctly about letting the eggs rest for a couple of days before setting them? I'm going to put them under a broody and its my first time hatching eggs so I want to give them the best possible chance of survival. Any tips would be great! Thanks

There is some debate on this. The pro is you give the air sacks time to reform. the con is the older the eggs are, the less likely they are to start.

I personally put them in but don't turn them for a day or so if the air cells are dicey. And since I'm the worlds worst candler, then I assume they are wonky :D.
But even then, they are talking 12 hrs or so, not several days, iirc.

good luck with your broody!

Thanks for the response! Makes sense. I think I'm way too impatient to wait long. I love candleing eggs, I built a styofoam incubator and all eggs had activity until the last few days, 2 out of 20 hatched. A bit disappointing, thats why I'm gonna try the broody. Thanks for the info!

Wow, I am so glad I checked my eggs last night. One of my swap eggs was smelling quite funky. I had to get it out of there before it made a mess!
