I wondered why someone had not tried this. Would like to see a picture if you have it.

The origional australorps was a combination of leghorn, buff orp and a few others , it was about practicality, The didnt really have showing on thier mind. Egg production and a bird that was also a quality meat bird was the goal. Sex link just makes it easy right off to tell your females from male. I do not understand how the sex link genes work but there are some in here that do.

People used to work on creating new breeds and there was a surge back around the turn of the century, lots of new breeds were introduced as well as the ancient breeds. I think sadly people are so far removed from farming today and most do not grow up understanding that there are different chcicken breeds. I have a freind that talked like chcicken grew under plastic wrap at the grocery store..

I am in awe of people who work at this, its not easy. sir john sebright spent his entire life creating the sebright bantam. If you take this project on, we would love to watch the progress.

Many people today just do not have the time to dedicate to these projects due to work scedules ect...and a lot of breeds are being degraded. lower quality birds And it shows!
Finding top quality lorps in US is difficult if not impossible, and just in case you might think Im kidding, Here is a page from the official australian site , there is a waiting list a mile long and they absolutly will not give up a good pullet. We just do not have the base that they do to work with, thou there are some real good birds here, I just not sure if we could even compete with them.. This site tells how long the waiting list is and stresses patience

Just a bit of history and interesting during WW2 , lives were let say disrupted and a very few dedicated breeders saved some important breeds from dissappearing completly. A few breeds were lost and today a couple of people are trying to recreate them.
