Will I get slapped for calling a woman a chook?

I'll try it with my wife since she will not know what it means.

Is it like calling a woman a chicken? offensive?

Well I guess that depends on where you live. Over here if you call your wife the old chook (old woman) she would probably slap you. But hey you can only try it and see

Oh, there are people around the place who will use 'chook' as, say, other people use the word 'poppet' or 'hon'. It's just a .... weird thing, I guess

Anyhow,

to Animalian, and how's everyone else going? I heard on the news this morning that the entire of south-eastern Australia is on a weather warning

just wind and some rain, no biggy. I think half the weather warning are just coz they're paranoid they'll get in trouble IF it's really bad lol

Hey Satay.. What is the weather supposed to be like up that way tomorrow?? I have just been told I have to fly up there for the day for work. It means I have to be up 4am

Well if your off to Bris vegas it should be ok for a southern stater lol. It was soo freezing here this morning. 2c at 7am. I too will be in brissy tomorrow and am looking forward to a few degrees warmer than it usually is here. I too have to be up at 4 am as hubby works in brissy so will catch a lift down with him. Am getting to see my cute nephew so it will be worth the early morning start lol.

Some one forgot to tell my bantams that it is winter and freezing at the moment. I had a bantam come out of the back of the property with 9 babies on Saturday. I didn't even know she was missing. They free range the back part of the property during the day. Has anyone else noticed the oddness of animals and breeding this year. My neighbours budgies are breeding up a storm now and so are her turkeys, really strange behaviour for winter.

I hear nothing bad happened at all, even though the wind was supposed to be gusting up to 50 knots... that's quite a lot. It's gotten up to 34, 35 here in the past, but I haven't known anything that strong.
