Greetings my fellow Aussies
So nice to see some here, we speak the same lingo in some aspects, however not to make fun of our US compatriots
I've searched for an Australian chook forum but to no avail
I hope you are all as happy as I am to find a place on the net with so many knowledgeable happy hens and roosters.

Hi five for Aussie Sharon,Bantamence, Peepsnbunnies and

Chicken. Nice to meet you all!!!

We Have 4 Bantams, 1 Langshan hen and 1Cochin and 2 crosses.
So far we've got 5 eggs from them, but I'm sure its only one of the chickens laying them(Langshan).

If you see any other Aussies on ere tell them to head for this thread and mark their place in Oz!!!!

I’m in Ulladulla, on the central coast of NSW, about 3 hours south of Sydney.

Make that six. I'm Bron from Greenfields about an hour out of Perth, WA.
I have an Australorp (Gertie), an Araucana (Topsie), a Golden Laced Wyandotte (Myrtle) and a Frizzle (Frizz, of course ). Have had chooks for about ten years and they free-range most of the day (we live on two-thirds of an acre).
Just an interesting experience I'm having with them at the moment three of them are clucky !!! It's a real balance trying to allow Gertie into lay without the other three leaping into the box with her.
Having chooks is more complicated than most people realise hey!

Hi,
My name's Bron from Mandurah near Perth. I currently have only 4 chooks. One Australorp (Gertie), one Golden-laced Wyandotte (Myrtle), one Auracana (Topsie) and a Frizzle (Frizz).
I've always wanted chooks but couldn't until we bought our house on 2/3 of an acre. They free range and sleep in their secure shed at night.
Welcome to the backyard forum. The photo is of Frizz, Myrtle and Topsie waiting for nest "opening hours" when they wee ALL clucky at once! Gertie (the only sensible one) looks down at them thinking "what the hell are you guys doing "?

Hi everyone, I’m north West of Brisie, QLD. Does anyone know some good hatcheries? One that hopefully ship or are near Brisbane? I am wanting more diverse chickens and genetics in my ducks. Guinea fowl are also needed at my farm (lots of ticks).

Nice to find another Aussie here, welcome What do you plan to do with your roosters? I don't have one but when I have a hen that is almost continuously clucky, I have a friend who breeds and shows chooks and she gives me some fertile eggs. We've had a couple of boys, but my husband gets too annoyed with their crowing so I'm not allowed to keep them
Fortunately my egg-giving friend will always take back the roosters . Because all of her hens are beautiful breeds, she gets good money by selling them. I am very grateful to have such a friend.
