Any one on the QLD gold coast want a free drake??????? I have just now read about a lovely Runner Campbell cross drake that is about to be collected by a crocodile farm for meat if a new home is not found for him in the next few hours.

Computer will be on until late- please PM me if you can take this drake. I can get photos of him- he is a gorgeous looking boy.

Bugger Ducky, I would take him but i am 2 hours from the coast. Hope someone takes the fella so he doesn't become meat.

Its ok.... I am having him brought down here. The post I saw was just too sad for me not to step in and do something. I recently made two donations to waterfowl rescue paces in the USA I have found out about after making friends on here- so it would seems wrong to ignore a duckie here in Australia that needs help too. I wish we had a place like The Carolina Waterfowl rescue or Mt Holly Duck Sanctuary here in Australia. I do know of a place about an hours drive from Melbourne that take in all farm animals- but after going there to see the place myself- I would not want to take any there.

Anitrans is picking up 3 of my ducks to take up to QLD on Sunday - so I will orgainse for " Riley" to be brought back on the return journey.

Ok Ducky it is now official. I am the worst duck hatcher of all time. The eggs I was telling you about that Iset and were due this weekend ending up being chicken eggs. I have heaps of ducks and lots of chickens all penned seperately. You would think after all these years I would be able to tell them apart? Well the eggs were waxy just like duck eggs and large so I had no reason to think they weren't. Come Monday of this week they were pipping and out popped 5 white chickens. Even my son who has seen me hatch 100's of chicken eggs in the bator said mum they are not chicken eggs. Well we were all wrong. I still can't figure how those eggs got outside the pen or for that matter who layed them. The only ones that free range are the runners. So I guess I am just not meant to have more runners lol. Ok so that is my embarrassing story for the day

OMG....

Sorry...but I have to laugh at that... Wooklet will also know why it is so funny... I sent here some duck eggs and marked them as Buff Silkie eggs- so her Hubby wouldnt know she was setting duck eggs... But he worked it out pretty quick.

So sorry you didnt get any ducks- Dont give up though. It might be better this way- wait til next spring when its warmer and try again. Brooding ducklings when the weather is getting colder is not much fun.

I am so excited about seeing " Riley" Still have the finer points to work out- but he will be here ALIVE in about a week. I am so glad he doesnt know how close he came to a terrible end.

I do feel like the untimate fool right now.

I still can't fathom how these eggs were chook eggs. I have never seen any of my chooks lay large waxy eggs before. Oh well at least i got chooks I supposse. Could have got nothing.

Riley found a home and will be staying in Queensland. I was so disappointed to hear the lady had finally found somewhere for him to live. But I am happy for him as he will be living on a farm and wont have the two day travel to get here.

At least my offer to give him a home kept him alive for the extra time that was needed to find him a place to go.

A busy weekend for those buying and selling Poultry in Victoria this weekend. There are three Auctions- I will be going to the one in Geelong on Saturday to try and find homes for the 6 borders I have had living with me. Hopefully I will find a nice little Pekin for my daughter as well.


Anyone else having issues waking up in the morning as we head into less daylight hours?? I was really starting to struggle to wake up at 5.30 am to get to work at 7am- until last week ... I have changed position at work and now keep office hours of 8.30 - 5pm. I am loving the extra sleep in the mornings- but getting home later is not so nice. It will be getting dark when I get home in the middle of winter.
