She must be pushing 4 or 5 now, or maybe even older! They were already pretty old when we got them. And we're in Victoria Though the weather has taken a turn for the worse again :/

Hi,oh thats a ripe old age (for a chicken) and well done for keeping her going for so long. oh ye iv'e heard , i live in coffs harbour and it hasn't rained down here for a good 2 months except a few night showers.

Thats good. I hear the meat birds are lucky to live past 12months (cos I got one for a pet....silly me)Not sure on averages, but one of my friends has a hen thats over 10 years old- she hasn't laid for a long long time, and shes ratty as anything!
I think shrs a special case though, they seem to either get eaten, sick or simply drop dead long before old age xD
