I love my black australorp! She hatched and raised 4 chicks for me this year at only 8 months old. She was a great mom and started laying eggs again when the chicks were 5 weeks. She is very friendly and social. She's the best!

No they are lavendar Orpingtons. I had to order her some eggs since I didn't have a rooster at the time. It was bad timing as I just got a order of chicks but I couldn't help myself. I had always wanted to have a broody. I'm glad I gave in! It was a very cool experience and hopefully she will go broody every year!

she has a very upright tail! Mine do not hold their tails that straight!

HI I am from Nova Scotia Can. And I am going to breed Black Australorps this year (March-May) out of my BA breeding stock. Here are some pictures:

I don't know if this came out right but this is my cockerel "Benty's Yankee Doodle"
I also have two other SQ hens named
"Benty's Secret Desire" and
"Benty's Black Eyed Susan"

As you might have guessed they all have the same dad but apparently it won't be "Inbreeding" for the first few generations. Those three BAs will be shown in junior poultry 4H this year.
