To get better lacing would breeding black rooster over blue hens or blue rooster over black hens work better?

I'm going to be working on the better lacing of the blues also, so I just sent Kurt an email asking him the same question. I'll let you know what he says about it when I get an answer back from him.

I just got an answer back from Kurt:

Either way it has never mattered when I bred. A lot of breeders for all kinds of animals believe that the dam or hen transfer the most of their genes even though it is truly 50/50.

Your welcome! I guess that if you have some of each color, you could put Some blue hens in with your black rooster, and some black hens in with your blue rooster. Then my guess is that you would keep the best ones that hatch out from that.

This is a great question that I have wondered myself. I'm so glad that you asked, and that you both got an answer from Kurt.

This spring we are breeding 2 pens each of 12 Black Aussies/1 Blue Roo, and 1 pen of 10 Blue Aussies/1 Black Roo.
Last year we only bred black hens(from a hatchery) and blue roos (from Kurt). We did see some nice lacing.
