Hey I had a question about which of my chickens are autralorps or easter eggers. They are all the same color with bright red combs but some appear to be slightly smaller. They haven't started laying yet but we ordered these chickens online (6 of each) and we appear to only have australorps! If anyone knows how to tell these two breeds apart that would be so awesome!
Thank you so much

Autralops are black and have straight combs. Easter eggers will be multi color normally and may have a beard. and the comb usually is a pea comb.

I have both black Easter Eggers, and Australorps. First, I'll show you the Easter Eggers. They usually have yellow skin (look on the underside of the feet), pea combs, and may or may not be muffed and bearded.

This girl does have a single comb.

This one is muffed and bearded, and has a pea comb.

This one is clean faced, but has a pea comb.

Pea comb and muffs and beard.
All have yellow skin.
Now for the Australorps.

Single combed, and clean faced.

In this shot you can see the white skin through the dark wash of the legs.

As you can see, mine are very broody. The pics above are two different hens.

X2 on the above posts, and maybe you could post some pictures of your birds?

I had 2 austalorps and they were VERY vocal, they sounded like a goose more than a chicken. Beautiful black shine, very bright red combs. Great birds if you don't mind the sounds of a goose honking/crowing type thing.
