australorp rooster?

I am planning to get one rooster for a flock of black australorp and speckled Sussex hens. any experience here with an australorp rooster as far as temperament, etc...also has anyone bred any hybrid from this mix?

My friend has kept lots of Australorp roosters in the past because they were good at keeping predators away. They were very good protectors, but like any rooster occasionally you get ones that are really shy or really aggressive to people.
If you're buying one from someone, ask the owner about his temperament, hopefully that will give an indication on what the rooster will be like at your place

I raise the Australorps in the Black, Blue, and Splash colors. I have found that with the hatchery roosters of this breed that you have to grow them out and take your chances on getting a nice one. For me as a breeder however, I do not breed any mean roosters with my flock.

Yes, but I don't ship. I sell mine locally. If you don't live near me and you take a trip over this way later, just let me know. I usually have some boys and occasional pullets left.
