We have 19 chickens & and some ducks - no new additions and none of the others are having problems.
This morning, I noticed our 3yr old Australorp hen staying off to herself, sitting on a roost - tail sort of down. Breathing seemed a bit faster than normal and she seemed to be pumping her tail some. She also closed her eyes a lot.
I thought she might be egg bound since I had noticed a little runny, eggy looking poo in the hen house yesterday. As I was carrying her in to sit on a heating pad for a while, I noticed a sort of rattling/clicking sound coming from her. DH heard it too and thought maybe she was getting ready to throw up - which she didn't. I am not hearing that sound right now, but if I put my ear very close to her, I can hear her breathing a little. She seems very alert now and she has no discharge from eyes or nose.
I'm wondering if this sounds like possible respiratory infection? I'm going to keep her isolated for now - do you think Tylan would help?
