This is one of my Black Australorp chicks...hoping s/he is really a she. Here is another picture of it with the sister Australorp. This one grew the comb first (by about a week). Somedays it appears reddish, then it lightens to yellow, only to turn redder again. Is she just an early developer? Or do I have a friendly roo? This picture was taken at about 9 weeks. They are now going on 11 weeks...still no crowing:D

What do you think? Thanks in advance.

Agreed - my australorp roos were very obvious by 5-6 weeks (big combs & wattles). Besides the comb, you need to look at the wattles and yours doesn't have any yet.

Thanks everyone! Pullets make me happy:D They are both as friendly as can be, but the one I thought might be a roo is especially friendly...she was always the first to jump up on my arm when in the brooder, the first to run out of the coop to see what I've brought for a treat, etc. Looking forward to eggs now!
