Yes, that should work with male chicks hatch having a white spot on their heads at hatch. The CCL will pass two copies of her barring gene (seen in the tail) to her male offspring when crossed to a solid (dark is easier) color male such as the Marans.![]()
I should add that what we are talking about is sex linked not auto sexing. The pure CCL would be auto sexing meaning that the offspring will also carry and pass it on if bred to the same breed.
Sex linked is only good for that generation and will not be passed to the next generation. The next generation will not produce sex linked chicks. It does not breed true.
