Is it true that if I breed my bcm roo with my ccl hen that it’ll make an autosex chick?

Yes, that should work with male chicks hatch having a white spot on their heads at hatch. The CCL will pass two copies of her barring gene (seen in the tail) to her male offspring when crossed to a solid (dark is easier) color male such as the Marans.

Thank you!!! I put some bcm x ccl in the bator the other day and then realized today that I heard of them making autosex chicks. Fun!

I should add that what we are talking about is sex linked not auto sexing. The pure CCL would be auto sexing meaning that the offspring will also carry and pass it on if bred to the same breed.

Sex linked is only good for that generation and will not be passed to the next generation. The next generation will not produce sex linked chicks. It does not breed true.

This is at least my current understanding with sex linking and the cross you asked about. I learn new things all the time though... and it's always good to get second or even third opinion.

That’s what I figured. I think I’ve hatched some before that I had bought that were autosex like that. I guess we’ll know in a couple weeks. Thanks!
