If their fluff color is "true", then my little project might be getting somewhere!

In in order from Greenfire I had Twentse chickens, which I couldn't for the life of me get to hatch pure, the egg quality just wouldn't bump up no matter what I did over a year and a half. The rooster could do his job though. Had Legbars in with him too, those hatched fine.

The F1 of that was sexlinked. Neat!

Sold the Twentse as yard ornaments. Sold the Legbars once they hit 2 years old. Retained some hybridized offspring. Bred those. Didn't expect the sex linkage to be auto-sexing in that next generation.

But look! These hatched yesterday.

This one seems to be a boy, no head stripe and very pale back stripes.

This one appears to be female, with a stronger head stripe and more defined back stripes.

These are the parents.

Grandpa, the pure Twentse that went over the Legbar hens.

I banded the chicks so that I can see if the fluff indicators on gender hold true.

If it does hold true, would I want to breed daughters back to the rooster to keep that going, since he's the one showing barring? Trying to keep that flat Walnut comb of the Twentse going too, that trait seems to be 50/50 in them.
