I am looking to add an automated door to my chicken pen. At this point I do not want it to auto open just close at night. I am thinking about having a simple guillotine style door that is pulled up and hooked to a pin or something to let them out. At night a 12V timer and a remote door buzzer thing (maybe a solenoid) would trigger and drop the door. In order to keep the smarter animals out it would have a simple lock like what is used on some sliding door box traps(stick pivots and falls in the door track so it cant be lifted).
Anyone else out there ever try using a remote door lock like that before, any comments?
