Automatic Door needed?

Interesting. I have never gone into the coop when I open the pop door first thing in the morning, so I don't know how my temp/humidity stacks up against the outdoors. In the afternoon, I go out for "snack time" and to clean the coop and the measurements are essentially the same inside the coop and out.

Part of the benefit of an automatic painted interior door is that you don’t have to be there to open/close it. There are so many types of doors and it’s not really about that door for a coop or for a house, it’s about the door itself. Due to “site” i never have doubt is my door closing or opening. Their doors are made from lasting materials and look solid, and i’m pretty sure if you want a personalized one they are the ones you’re looking for. At their shop you can find any door, and you can forget about ever worrying because of your coop. Good luck.

Spam alert...the link goes to interior "house" doors. Seems like overkill on a chicken coop ;)

Although my run is pretty darn close to fully secure, I just got an automatic door. I’m found that a mouse had made a home in our coop during our super cold spell.

The rule of thumb, as relayed to me by a pest control expert in the past, is that a rat can fit through a gap the size of a quarter. A mouse can fit through a space the size of a dime.

I just chose to opt for “better safe than sorry”, I guess. I let my chickens out to free range daily, and having an automatic door will allow us a little more flexibility to go out and stay out with less stress. Nothing worse than feeling like you need to cut an experience short because you have to go home and close the chicken run before it gets too dark. If they’re all safely in the coop, I can relax and stay for one more beer 🍻
