I have built my own coop and fitted the door with hinges at the top is it possible to have an aromatic opener on this type of door that will still be secure at night any ideas?

Functionally, it will be more difficult to secure a hinged door than a guillotine door. Here is a site with a demo of its product to give you some ideas. http://www.chickendoors.com/products.htm

The downside of a hinged door that closes from the outside is that a raccoon can get hold of the edge and pull it open unless it locks. A hinged door that closes from the inside can become caught in debris or a chicken on the floor when it attempts to close, preventing it from closing. In the same vein, a raccoon or other predator can force the door in.

A closed guillotine door whose lower edge is behind a barrier is practically impossible to open under most any circumstances, even by humans.
