Automatic door opener

Hello,

I want my ducks to be outside during the day and locked in their pen at night, so I installed an automatic door opener. Right now, I use the door opener manually, I lure them into the pen at dusk by feeding them in there to get them accustomed to stay in there during the night. In the morning I let them out. However, I don't know how to make them go inside on their own. I'm pretty sure they would stay outside, if I wouldn't come and feed them. Does anyone use an automatic door opener with ducks succesfully?

I don't use an auto door, but I don't think the ducks would ever learn to come back at night. When I had my first batch of ducks I had to herd them to their pen every night for 2 years!

Thats funny as soon as its dusk mine go to the coop and even sit in the same spot in the coop

I was so sick of having to go on a duck hunt every night, so I gave them to a friend, and this year we built a HUGE duck pen and they stay in there. In the spring I might try some purina 1 net fences NON- electrified

I wonder if It matters what the breed of duck is? what breed do you have?

My muscovie was hard to get inside she had a mind of her own. But it doesnt matter

Mine do too! I think the dark makes them uncomfortable and they want to feel the safety of their coop.
