We are considering buying an electric door. Does anyone here have experience with them? I'm curious how they are predator proof if there's no latch.

If you want to go for a cheaper option you can attach a pulley system to your porch then you don’t have to walk to the coop that’s what I have

We're actually looking at an automatic door to make it possible to be able to have a weekend away sometimes. When I'm home I like to let them out. They get so excited lol.

It depends on the auto door. I use a standard Chicken Guard so the idea is if the door drops down into side and bottom rails, it's too slippery to push up and there's no edge for a predator to get their fingers/claws under to lift or pry away.

Other doors may use magnets or latches that disengage when the motor starts, in order to keep predators out.
