I am sad to say that our beloved Rhode island red rooster,Sequel, has passed away my grandmother found him dead this afternoon when we went out to feed it got up to 96F today he was looking a bit drowsy yesterday he was fine this morning. His body didnt show any signs of anything and I cannot take a pic of it,any help would be good

If you keep him refrigerated - not frozen - you can contact your state's poultry extension to arrange for a necropsy. They're usually cheap or free depending on where you're at

How old was he, and did you have any other roosters? Did they have plenty of shade and multiple places to drink water? Had he been acting off in any way? Edited to say, it it hasn’t been too long, you could retriece the body and keep it in a cooler on ice until morning. Contact your state vet for a necropsy to find out what was wrong. Here is a list of contact information for the 3 PA state vet labs:

We disposed of the body up on our field hill so the predators could get to it. The thought of keeping a dead animal in a cooler is out of the question for me, I can barely look at a dead animal

It is not fun to do a necropsy, but we will all lose chickens occasionally. I do home necropsies on hens I lose, and have found results that pointed to what killed them. Many do them and post pictures of the organs here in threads to get help and advice. The state vet lab is the best necropsy if you want to find an answer.
