Autosexing + Autosexing =?

I'm interested in 2 different autosexing breeds, the Bielefelder and the Cream legbar. I was wondering if you were to breed those 2 together would the resulting chicks be able to be auto sexed?

Not the most technical answer, but probably not. From my experience autosexing breeds when bred together will just make random variations.

That's what I figured would happen but I was trying to be hopeful that maybe you could get a mix like that to be autosexing.

I'm curious as to why that would be true. I won't pretend to understand how the autosexed breeds work. It's a barring base but doesn't work with Punnet's square, it's sex linked. Very confusing how Punnet did it.

By my thought all those autosexing breeds are based on same principle so why would they not continue being autosexed crossing breeds?

Since both breeds (to the best of my understanding) sexlink via duckwing pattern + barring they're essentially the same colour, and should produce autosexing offspring.

(For whatever reason, duckwing pattern can be autosexing itself [see Welsummers] and seems to enhance autosexing barring. Some lines of duckwing are better for autosexing than others.)

Yes that cross will produce autosexing offspring.

I don’t see why not.
Since they are the same color and the chicks are sexed by the same traits, there is no reason why they shouldn’t be sexable.

Duckwing base is already sexually dimorphic from hatch in itself. I was able to sex it fairly easy in Welsummers and Leghorns.
Barring is also fairly sexable. If crele or barred is selectively bred towards lighter males and darker females (which is usually undesirable in exhibition breeds, and harder to differentiate at hatch, therefore) it makes a more drastic contrast between males and females.

I wish I had more pen space. I have gold duckwing and legbar barring and I bred them together and I get a range of sexing features based on how the genetics panned out from chick to chick. I'm fascinated.

I did Twentse x Legbar and got these...

Then bred those and got a mix of some that leaned to Legbar, like this pullet...

And some that leaned more towards Twentse, like this guy...

This is the original Twentse rooster.

With the duckwing, the boys start sprouting those dark chest feathers at about 4-5 weeks old. If they pick up the Legbar features, I can tell by fluff color at a day old. I don't know if there is a faster way to tell on the Duckwing.
