Well i have a flock and i am getting 6 more from the hatchery however the avain flu has hit iowa what should i do any tips. I dont want anyone to die. My chickens usally free range. Should they not?

If you have Avian Flu in your area I would make sure they are NOT near any open water.

Always separate new chicks/chickens form the rest of the flock to make sure that no one is sick and bringing it iinto your older flock- or vise versa
From what I’ve heard on the radio the poop of wild birds carries the virus. So your birds will get it while foraging for bugs.

Put away any wild bird feeders. I know, it sucks, but the less they are attracted to your area the better. Separate out the nuggets from the OG's, for at least 12 days. Limit area your OG's range for awhile, and make sure that you have a secure area around your outside feed. One article said to fence it, then put bird netting around it so smaller birds can't get to it. Any runs need to be covered.
