average low temps/ non-heated coops?

As Pat has mentioned, it's reassuring to have a thermometer (cheapo spring operated are best) because you can observe your chickens and comfort yourself that they're fine. Like Pat, we've insulated and I do not plan to heat because I want the hends to adapt and to develop a winter feathercoat. We do use an electric heater base under a 3 gal galvanized waterer.
