Avian Flu WARNING!!!

x2 I'm more worried about the economic problems to the Midwest that may be expected. Some pretty big companies got hit. However, I feel it is reasonable to protect your birds from the flu, as long as you remain calm. As I stated before, this is a very easy situation for backyard chicken owners to take advantage of!
I believe the outbreak is a lot more of a political problem than a heath risk at this point. Maybe it's a good thing. Maybe we'll stop keeping 5 million chickens in the same facility.
WV has done this, too, as well as other states. It's just a precaution (also a smart political move, IMHO).

And yep,, I think tori and I have been on this same bandwagon before

I often say, be well informed, not advised Advise can be good or bad,, but information will never steer you wrong.

I have had 7 chickens die in the last 3 days. No signs of the others pecking them or anything else getting them. I am baffled at whats happening to them. never had this happen. can anyone help?

hard to say without knowing symptoms.. but I wouldn't jump to AI right away either... if they are lethargic and droopy looking I'd say it's a pretty good chance it is cocci... with all the rain we been having it has been rather rampant this year

I had given them watermelon out of the garden on friday I was hoping that did not cause them to die! What is the stuff called that I need to get to treat them?
