Avian vet bad advice?

Hi, i just want to say, you have done a great job, especially listening to all the excellent,
advise you have been given, on BYC so glad you came and asked for help, and you followed it. As for your vet, say no more. lol They are pathetic, most of them have not got a clue. Yet there are other vets who will help all they can, and that is how it should be. Love your pics, she is one spoiled beautiful girl. So happy for you. :love

Thankyou so much

When i massage her crop a smell breifly arises and then dissaperes almost like a "fart" smell.. im assuming that is normal as i am moving the crop around?

I have noticed everyone is happy to help here, i have had more help in this forum than anywhere.

I am so grateful also here is a photo of her when she was healthy so people can put a face to the name

Her name is Creature :)

Oh she does remind me of the Creature the house elf! What a character!

Wow.. the vet rang me with a follow up call.. i am umm.... speechles..

His words "she does not have any form of bumble foot, your evaluations are incorrect"..

I mentioned her crop again and the smell and what i have been doing to help her..

He said..

"She does not need coconut oil or any other forms of oil, all she needs is water.. you will kill her"

I am beyond horrified.. he was so snakey on the phone to me.

Tell that guy to go back to school (though it probably wouldn't help since they don't seem to teach jack squat about chickens) or quit giving advice to chicken owners altogether. :smackWhat an idiot. Coconut oil is literally food (not like you should eat a ton of it, but still. FOOD.) Kill her my hind end.

There are several people on this site who I truly believe should be made honorary chicken veterinarians/avian specialists. They know more than 95% of the "real" vets out there.
