I have 5 snowflakes that are doing well. I am about to put them outside because it is warm both day and night.

I see they "popcorn" or "boink" much more than coturnix do. Do you keep them in high topped aviaries or very low cages? How low or high to keep them from hurting themselves?

My coturnix do well in a 24" x 24" x 12" high cage. but not sure the Snowflakes will. My space is limited because I am in the city.

Open to comments or experience on this. Had a tough time getting these 5 started and do not want to loose them.

Bobs, snowflake or otherwise, spook much more than other quail. Small or short cages are not ideal. Chicken wire or hail screen type wire will eventually lead to injury or demise. I'd look into the nylon type poultry netting of at least the top two feet of the sidewalls and overhead. They still hit it full steam but they just bounce off of it. I've had quail hit a chicken wire ceiling and pop their heads clean off.

Since space is limited id use a 1/4" square wire. Don't use anything they can get their head through. Try not to spook them and they'll be fine.
