We have a avocado tree and it has lots of little buds for potential avocados. If a chicken was to eat them or the leaves would that be harmful to them? Sadly our swedish flower hen passed today and I just can't figure out what happened. And another one of our hens is acting strange, won't eat or drink water all day. I know the avocado skin and pit is toxic, but curious about the leaves and buds that form after flower has bloomed. Thanks

Well..... if you put 2 and 2 together, it would make sense. But I'm no tree expert or work for the poison control center.

How old are your birds and what does their poop look like?
Have you checked them over really well for lice or mites?

My sick one is about 8 months old. The other one was a year, or that's based off of what the seller told since she was already laying when I got her. No lice or mites. She is still just staying in one spot. Mostly laying down, sometimes standing but not moving or eating. Poop is very little but one was brown and sort of solid, and then white liquid too.
So I'm thinking she ate something toxic, or is eggbound.

I should also mention I have 4 other chickens and they are all fine.

When was the last time she laid an egg and go feel her belly. Is it full and firm or squishly like?
