Avocado Tree

I know that many people who log-on are farmers and work in agriculture. I need some help understanding the best way to grow an avocado tree. My friend gave me a small potted avocado tree (About 3 feet tall) I have planted it and it seem to have taken root and is growing (About 4 feet now) Here are my questions:

1) Should I graft the tree?
2) When should I graft it and with what?
3) Are there any other things I should consider?
