So proud of my girls surviving last night, it was bitterly cold, EXTREMELY windy and raining all night and they survived! They tried to sleep on the roosts judging by the little poop that was under them but they must have migrated to the empty nest box because there was more poop in there.
Oh what an exciting life I lead, observing chicken poo..
Anyway they got a good helping of cracked corn and BOSS in their treat bowl for being so brave, even though I'm meant to be cutting back on treats, they earned it. For once.
I know they're only chickens but they're my babies I freaking love them.

Congrats! Remember, they have built in down coats; they prefer cold to hot. If they can get out of the wind they will usually be fine. Frostbite is usually the problem, and it can be prevented well below freezing just by having enough vent up high in the coop to let the humidity and ammonia out.

You sure have the opposite problem that we're having here in the US. It's 110F today in Northern California and supposed to be all week! My poor girls don't like the mister I have on them but I've got to keep them alive!

Glad your girls made it through the cold. It's stressful when the weather is so rough...

ahahah, you guyz just gave me a good laugh! thinking I am dumb or something!
