I thought I looked these two birds over carefully looking to make sure that the comb wasn't too red, etc. The day after I brought them home, the one Sebright's comb suddenly seemed to glare at me! Please tell me there is a chance it could still be a pullet.

They are 4 weeks old and the one I'm suspicious of is braver and more curious.
I'm also hoping they look much better after they lose those first baby feathers.

In every picture I have seen of seabrights only the roos have red comes and wattles. the girls won't go red at all (according to the pictures that is) so yes it looks like you have one boy and one girl

Both my sebrights hens had the little beginnings of a comb on their nose. However the difference between them and a roo (other than the fact that they lay eggs) seemed to be that after a certain point the little combs got no bigger and remained a single tiny knob whereas the roos turned into a regular comb.

Mine were just from the feed store though and not show quality or anything so perhaps my experience is not typical.

I think you have a pair..

I have to say from what I can see of your spinning wheel it looks nice.. What is it a Ashford?

Bingo! Ashford Traditional. Although, at the moment, all it's used for is a picturesque roost for taking photos and for gathering dust. I've tried to learn and I have more wool than you can shake a stick at but I think I may need someone to come over to actually show me.

I guess its going to come down to time. I'll keep an eye on that comb. If it does turn out to be a cockerel, I hope my neighbors won't mind too much! There are lots of people in our area that have roosters. Just no one right next door. LOL!

I got a silver sebright as the free rare chick from MM last year. She took a long time to get a comb & wattles, but she does have them. Her comg was pink & almost not noticable for about 6 months. She lays the cutest cream colored egg, almost as large as my bantam silver penciled rocks.
