I just made my appointments for my 3 animals today.
I NEED to get my male Mastiff done asap..hes spraying! And hes only a year old. they say thats young for a giant breed dog.
and i have 2 female cats that NEED to be done asap also.
So..i called my regular vet..
my dog was going to cost me about $350..
and each female cat about $170 each..

So..i called this clinic in Springfield Mass.
Cats are only $60 each..
and my dog is going to be $125-$150...!! (because hes a giant breed)
So..i can get ALL 3 animals fixed for the price it was going to cost me to get my ONE dog done!

This program does not go by income like many others...ANYONE can bring their pet in and get them fixed for this price!
This place is a god send to me! We have been struggling..and i know that i HAD to get these guys fixed and now thank god i can!

That's wonderful!!!!!!! We have a clinic in our area called UCAN. They provide low cost spay/neuters Dog spay: $75 * Dog Neuter: $65 * Cat spay or neuter: $35. I think more areas ought to work with individuals on no/low cost spays/neuters so everyone can afford it.

Cost is the only thing keeping us from getting our heavy dog fixed. We have just kept her inside, but the surgery is supposed to prevent other things besides pregnancy so.....
They have a low cost program now that's not income based now! There's just a waiting list so we're waiting for our turn.

I'm glad they have it!!!! MIL got her cat done on the same program.
I was really worried that they wouldn't get it done, and then they would hate their cat "because she keeps getting pregnant" like some other in-laws told me they did. My reaction:

Ugh - I'm sooooo glad Utah doesn't have those asinine rules. Our low cost clinic even did rabbits, saved us a couple hundred bucks.

Good! and they have clinics in other places in mass too. At least one other one that i know of... good luck!

Thanks for the info,

get this ( total outrage here )
I have a rescue chihuaha, lesss than 3 lbs. talked to a vet up street about neutering him. ( chis' do better neutered)
got the estimate and nearly collapsed on the floor.
$600.00 !!!!! for a 2.8 LBS CHI! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME !!!
I didnt even dare think about asking what it would cost to have my Giant Malamute Neutered.
needless to say I did not walk out the door, I ran like the devil was after me.

I am a huge fan of spay neuter but dang I see why so many people do not alter their pets.

ETA: These 2 dogs are the first dogs I have had in many years.
When I had dogs altered years ago I could take 3 in for altering for the low cost of $50.00 each, what is wrong with vets now days?
